As a grandson of Tallahassee, Florida who was raised in Eastern North Carolina, Dr. Kevin grew up seeing the unwritten racial rules wrapped in Southern Hospitality. He used his words to bring equity his community and won two national journalism awards at 17 years-old.

Dr. Kevin burst onto the consulting scene as an 18-year old college freshman dedicated to eliminating the disparities that Black boys faced in education. It took crisis to shape his message.

Hitting the Jackpot

A Voice for the Good of the Community

The world-famous Durham Bulls hired a young energetic voice to entertain millions of fans. Dr. Kevin began seeing his reach expand after he was named the first weekend host of the North Carolina Education Lottery.

In concert with former NFL and NBA players, Dr. Kevin raised awareness toward issues of inequity in using his sports platform. He moved from having a voice to sharing a message.

Racism

A Natural & Social Disaster

He always saw racism as a local issue but living in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina forced him to deal with systemic racism. He quit all his entertainment and sports role and began graduate school to study racism.

Confronting Adversity

Tears of Victory

In order to earn his PhD, Jenkins fought through being unfairly dismissed from a doctoral program, a depression diagnosis, and mother recovering from a second kidney transplant. His story literally brings people to tears.

Dr. Kevin overcame the trials and never stopped fighting for triumphs in disadvantaged communities. In 2017, the National Quality Health Forum announced Dr. Kevin as one of the Nation’s 40 under 40 Health Leaders.

He always creates space to train and mentor underrepresented minority students. Since obtaining his PhD, Dr. Kevin has trained nearly 30 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students in critical racial disparities statistical methodologies.
